Brayden Schenn; Traded by the Flyers to the St. Louis Blues
Philadelphia Trades Schenn for Lehtera
Schenn was Shocked to be Traded
On Friday, June 23rd, 2017, the Philadelphia Flyers traded center Brayden Schenn to the St. Louis Blues for forward Jori Lehtera, the No. 27 pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (Morgan Frost), and a conditional first-round pick in 2018.
Schenn, who has spent the past six seasons with the Flyers, was reportedly shocked by the trade. He said on Friday night that he thought he was going to be a Flyer for life.
In exchange for Schenn and the contract of Lehtera, the Flyers secured their future. They grabbed two first-round picks from the Blues, which they can use to rebuild their team.
Schenn made his Flyers debut in a 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals on October 20, 2011. He struggled in that game and registered a minus-one rating.
