Kelly: Thomas is a 'dangerous' returner

LSU head coach Brian Kelly praised the talents of sophomore wide receiver and kick returner Zavion Thomas, calling him a "weapon" for the Tigers.

"Zavion Thomas is a dangerous returner," Kelly said. "He's got great speed, great vision, and he's not afraid to make a big play."

Thomas had a breakout season in 2022

Thomas emerged as a star for LSU last season, leading the SEC in kickoff return average (30.6 yards) and ranking second in the conference in punt return average (12.8 yards). He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Florida.

Kelly said that Thomas's success in the return game was a major factor in LSU's success last season.

Thomas is expected to be a key contributor in 2023

Kelly said that he expects Thomas to be a key contributor for LSU in 2023, both as a wide receiver and as a returner.

"Zavion is a guy who can make a difference for us in a lot of ways," Kelly said. "He's a weapon for us."
